What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government payment made directly to your child care provider to help reduce your out-of-pocket fees.
-
Who Can Get the Child Care Subsidy?
To be eligible for CCS, you must:
• Care for a child aged 13 or younger who isn’t attending secondary school (with some exemptions)
• Use an approved child care service
• Be responsible for paying the child care fees
• Meet residency and immunisation requirements
• Participate in a recognised activity (e.g., work, study, or approved leave)

Eligibility and Entitlement

Activity Test
A recognised activity can include paid work, study, and both paid and unpaid leave. Learn more about recognised activities on the Services Australia website.
Certain exemptions to the activity test apply. For instance, if you are the primary carer of your grandchild, unable to work due to a disability, or receiving a Carer Payment, you may be exempt. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children may receive a minimum of 36 subsidised hours, and low-income families may qualify for 24 subsidised hours per fortnight, regardless of activity levels. Visit Exemptions and Activity Levels to learn more.
